Default HDF-EOS to geoTIFF

Hello,

I am generating Level 1a and Level 1b MODIS data files and would like to be
able to covert them from HDF-EOS format to geoTIFF format, is there a
currently available software application available to acheive this?

Many thanks,
Peter.

Dear Peter,

I personally recommend using HEG, which converts HDF-EOS files to
binary, or geotiff files. You can download it from the following location:
http://hdfeos.gsfc.nasa.gov/hdfeos/details.cfm?swID=55.

best,

why can't I convert hdf to muti-geotiff? when I input "1,2,3" in bands, it's wrong.

To produce Multi-GeoTIFF bands, first you have to choose the Multi-GeoTIFF

output filetype. Then, select a band (place in the selected field), fill out the options in the

middle panel (ouput filename, projection type, etc),

and hit "accept". Your first band will be queued in the "run" panel. Then,

go and select another field, hit "accept" again (your previous options selected

from your first band will be used) which will add it to the "run" panel.

When, you're done "stacking" the bands, then run the job.

When I use HEGTool v2.0 to reproject and subsample MODIS files, it consistently gives me an error when assigning local IDs. Later, I can not read the output images with my GIS. What exactly this error means and what can I do to make it work?

Marcela,

It almost always means one of the environment variables is not set correctly.

If you are usuing Windows version v2.0, then download a newer version.

There was a problem with v2.0. Windows has a setup program that

sets the environment variables for you in HEGTool.bat.

If you are using Linux, SGI, SUN, or MAC, then go into the HEG script and

set the environment variables correctly.

Regards,

Cid

I can't find it on the internet using Google and Heg 2.0 is giving trouble.

Thanks much!
